Nonperturbative Violation of Factorial Moments Scaling in Dissipative QCD Jets

The nonperturbative modification of the evolution equation for QCD generating functional is applied to the analysis of the factorial moments of the intrajet particle distributions in QCD. Nonperturbative preasymptotic correction to the factorial moments scaling (F-scaling) is calculated. The results are compared with the available experimental data. The data show the possible presence of such a...

Enhanced nonperturbative effects in jet distributions.

We consider the triple differential distribution d Gamma/dE(J)dm(2)(J)d Omega(J) for two-jet events at center of mass energy M, smeared over the end-point region m(2)(J)<<M2, absolute value 2E(J)-M approximately Delta, Lambda(QCD)<<Delta<<M. The leading nonperturbative correction, suppressed by Lambda(QCD)/Delta, is given by the matrix element of a single operator. A similar analysis is perform...

FRIF Workshop on First Principles Non-Perturbative QCD of Hadron Jets Nonperturbative Effects in Event Shapes from Soft-Collinear Effective Theory

Soft-collinear effective theory (SCET) is used to demonstrate factorization for event shape distributions in the two-jet region. The leading nonperturbative power corrections to these distributions can be characterized as shape functions defined in terms of Wilson lines of soft gluons. The relation of these results to the well-known predictions for shifts in the distributions induced by the lea...

FRIF Workshop on First Principles Non-Perturbative QCD of Hadron Jets Universality of Nonperturbative Effects in Event Shapes

Nonperturbative effects in event shape distributions can be characterized by shape functions derived in the eikonal approximation or, equivalently, from soft-collinear effective theory. The use of energy flow operators and the boost invariance of the Wilson lines of soft gluons in the shape functions leads to a proof of universality for power corrections to the mean values of event shapes, with...

Evolution of Average Multiplicities of Quark and Gluon Jets

The energy evolution of average multiplicities of quark and gluon jets is studied in perturbative QCD. Higher order (3NLO) terms in the perturbative expansion of equations for the generating functions are found. First and second derivatives of average multiplicities are calculated. The mean multiplicity of gluon jets is larger than that of quark jets and evolves more rapidly with energy. It is ...
